HistoryIt has been 17 years since the moment when, together
with Dr. Moisés Asis, we began organizing what the Jewish
School Tikun Olan is today. Difficult years in which we have tried
to join the children of one generation who had lagged behind, but
we did that to have our dreams come true: to stop our Community
from disappearing, to continue the Jewish values and heritage we
are proud of.
ObjectivesThe Jewish education we offer in the Tikun Olam
School is focused on the teaching of the Hebrew Language, the religion
and the Jewish history. We also have workshops on craftsmanship,
dancing, singing and theatre. .
ActivitiesToday, we have an adult school with three professors in the Sefaradim Center and a school for the children and young people with 9 professors working in the Cuban Jewish Community. This School functions every Sunday morning. We can count two other professors sent by JDC, they prepare syllabuses for the upgrading of the staff. Nowadays, 80 students are registered in The
Tikun Olan School. Their ages range from 4 to 80 years old. We are
not many but we exist and that is important
